WE baby-boomers are retiring, and I don't know who is going to replace us. I love it when I hear people talking about getting rid of bad teachers. ...Another thing to consider when looking at gains...kids cannot move to the 9th grade unless they pass the 8th grade TAKS math and reading. Both teachers and students are working harder to get kids moved up and out...especially the 15-17 year olds in 8th grade. ... And the social studies test had many maps that contained the answers in them, many quotes where you had to identify the point of view of the speaker, and some questions that were true jokes. ...As I understand it the Academic UIL state meet is the same week as TAKS , so if your school has students going to the state meet, then they may have to take the SOcial Studies test on ...
