At it's simplest; Add around 3 parts water to 1 part paint. You can also add a tiny drop of washing up liquid to break the surface tension. When applying 'less is more' is a good rule - have only a little on your brush and brush the paint towards the recess. .... Combine it with ink and water and you can make a lot of washes. I usually do about 1 part ink to 5 parts water and 5 parts flow enhancer.
