Here's a better angle to see the spindle assembly and the DRO, a necessity on a CNC mill. You can also see the CNC motor that's already mounted. I'm going to try to test run that motor on the machine sometime tomorrow and see if it's strong .... To directly answer your question, it's hard to say how many blanks. What I intend to do is, after the first few rods are done on this machine, spend a month splitting, pressing and straightening strips. Then the next month final ...

Alan is about as close to a true “Dickerson” rod maker as any I've ever met. When you walk into his shop for the first time, you'd think he was a machinist by trade.
